Do You REALLY Want Those Safelist Credits?

So …

If a brand new credit based safelist opened today and said they’ll give you 100,000 for joining, is that a great deal?

As an owner of a very popular and highly ranked credit based safelist (EliteSafelist), I have a vested interest in making sure you see better results from your advertising.

Even if it’s not my own website, the results people get from credit based safelists reflect on the safelist world as a whole.

It’s common to see safelists offer credits for joining their program. But occassionally some safelists go overboard, giving away tens of thousands of even hundreds of thousands of credits for joining.

So back to the original question…

If a brand new credit based safelist opened today and said they’ll give you 100,000 for joining, is that a great deal?

It sounds like a great offer on the surface… but remember that the part of what makes a credit based safelist effective is having members actually clicking credit links and viewing ads.

When a new credit based safelist gives away that many credits, in most cases you can mail a few times a week for MONTHS without running out of credits.

And if you don’t have to click for credits, neither does anyone else!

No one viewing your ads = No Signups = NO SALES OR MONEY!

So do you REALLY want that 100,000 safelist credits? In most cases probably not.

One of the signs of a responsible credit based safelist owner is proper credit management. Don’t settle for anything less, because without real activity, you will simply end up wasting your time for little to no results.

One of the reasons EliteSafelist is consistently ranked one of the best safelists online is due to diligent credit management.

Although it goes against our instincts, I’d advise running away as fast as you can if you see a new safelist offering you insane credit bonuses just for joining.

I get the impression that many safelist owner just start their safelists to make as much money as they can with OTO’s upsells and credit deals.
Of course you have to bribe people in when you start a new Safelist but I’d limit the things to give away to 1000 credits the most (as they don’t even have 1000 recievers) and a login ad.
Elite Safelist is indeed one of the larger lists online but honestly the results are limited like many safelists out there.

@Walter Mulder – Hi Walter, actually most business owners are trying to make as much money as they can. If they’re not, they may want to consider doing something else besides business ownership. I’m not really sure what you’re trying to convey there.

There aren’t any limits to results, whether it is credit based safelists, traffic exchanges, or Google Adwords. Any advertising site is only as effective as the owner can make it.

Go to big internet marketing forums, and people will say credit based safelists and traffic exchanges don’t work. Yet some of us are using them to build lists of tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of customers.

You may want to consider focusing your thoughts on more of the positives. 😉

OH and I just want to add thanks everyone so much for the RT’s so far. It really brightens my day to know you found this helpful enough to share it with others.

If this trend continues, you might force me to reveal some really juicy stuff in the future! 🙂

I’m not saying that Safelists aren’t good for list building. I use Safelists and Traffic Exchanges a lot for this. Most people are just doing it plain wrong by posting generic affiliate links instead of squeeze pages.

There are business owners that launch list after list just to keep the hype going and not really caring about their safelist members. That’s what I wanted to say.

Not saying you’re one of them. I see you as a more ethical owners.

I wholeheartly agree with “Any advertising site is only as effective as the owner can make it.”

Unfortunately this is true. That’s why I’m so adamant about supporting the owners that do care about your results.

This really makes sense. I’d always use a safe list program that you need to read the e-mails to get credits. If no one is reading, then its no good. Elite Safelist is Great.

This is so true. Thank you for taking the time to educate people on this. I came to the same conclusion abotu a year ago when I registered with a new safelist that offered thousands of credits. I decided to wait a few months ebfore sending any mailers in hopes that most of that initial rush of people would have exhausted their credits and need to start clicking. Keep sharing!
